Laser soldering

What is diode laser soldering technique?

Diode laser soldering is a technique using a high output diode laser as a heat source to perform non-contact spot-heating soldering.Since a laser has a single wavelength and is a coherent light, a 0.4mm(standard) and a 0.6mm of its beam contour can be focused to a minimum of 0.2mm. Laser is the most suitable technique for small spot heating. Diode laser not only enables fine pitch SMD component soldering but also minimizes thermal effects on and around the spots to be surface-mounted.Flux-cored solder, solder paste and solder preforms such as "solder ball" are used as major soldering materials.Illuminating a laser light on a pad surface or a solder heats and melts them, enabling components to join within a short time. You can get far more satisfactory results in the growth of production output and the improved quality by employing the diode laser soldering technique as compared with manual operation or conventional techniques though it may be subject to the shapes of the workpieces.
